The Expanded Fandomverse - Episode 004 - "Jason's Soul Mate" with Stephen Greenwood

theexpandedfandomverse:

This week we continue our talks with the co-founders of Wookieepedia.  Jason has a conversation with Steven Greenwood about what life is like on Wookieepedia today.  As a note, we had to record the conversation over the phone, instead of via Skype.  Please forgive the slightly lower sound quality.

This week, we also bring back Jason’s Jawa Giveaway (Utinni!) for another round.  This time you can win a 6 inch Darth Goofy plush toy from Disney World.  To win, all you need to do is leave us a positive review on iTunes.  That simple!  Leave a review, and we will put your name in hat for our next random drawing.  (listen to the show for more details) Good luck!

We also talk about Star Wars birthdays (Happy Birthday to Jason who turns 40 today!), video games, we recap the rumors we talked about last week, and Jason’s crush on Jamie King!  And, we have a phone number you can use to leave us voice mails!  Dial 205-383-3663 and leave a message.  If it’s good, we just may use it on the show!

We’ve started posting on show on YouTube again, for those of you who are into that kinda thing!  ;-)

Rumors & Potential Spoilers: What do you think?

On last weeks episode, Jason and I discuss just how far we should go when discussing rumors and potential spoilers on the show. Jason is all for discussing every little details out there. I want to hold back a bit. I will look at the photos floating around, but I don’t want to talk about plot and characters.

So, we have left it up to you, the listener, to decided. What is your opinion? Please take our poll and leave a comment to tell us what you think. Thank you very much!

Episode 003 - "Taiwanese Mafia" with Chad Barbry

theexpandedfandomverse:

This weeks episode is up!

This week we welcome Chad Barbary, one of the co-creators of Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki. Chad tells us all about how he and Steve Greenwood started out on Wikipedia, what lead to the decision to create a Star Wars themed wiki, and just how it was done.

This week, we are also happy to announce the winner of our first Jason’s Jawa Giveaway! (Utinni!) Congratulations go to Chris Franck! Chris will be taking home the Star Wars Celebration III exclusive talking Darth Vader action figure.

In this episode Jason and I talk about the return of bootlegging friends in the far east, we discuss the Star Wars themed events in our lives the past week, and we get long winded about this weeks news. Plus, we end the show with another visit from our good friend, Mr. Dan White, who will chew the power cables as he tell us his opinion about the link between childhood and Star Wars.

Episode 002 - "Geek Wasn't Chic"

theexpandedfandomverse:

This week we welcome Dana Melton and Jess Alexander.  Together they form the writing team of Kirby Melton.  These two old friends started writing Star Wars fan fiction and role playing game adventures together.  Their partnership grew, and they are now published authors who have created their own series of young adult novels.  We talk about their writing process, growing up nerdy before it was cool, embarrassing cosplay, and Star Wars collecting.

This week we also talk about a friend of the show, Frank O’Sullivan.  Tim begs for Franks forgiveness, as Frank was to be our first correspondent, but Tim screwed up the recording.  (Frank was a former guest on the show, and you can listen to his old interview HERE.)

We also have a reminder about Jason’s Jawa Giveaway (Utinni!), talk about the biggest Star Wars news of the week that relates to fandom, discuss Jason’s wages for working on the show, figure out how Jason can direct Episode XIII, and Tim asks how corny is too corny.  So, sit back and enjoy!

The Expanded Fandomverse - Episode 001

theexpandedfandomverse:

EPISODE 001 - CRAIG CHENERY or “Chinese Mafia”

You’re probably asking… “What?!? Another new episode already?!?” Let me explain…

We had intended to release these episodes a week apart, but due to an incident involving kidney stones, our schedule was thrown of course. We could have waited another week to release this episode, the first “official” episode of the all new, all improved, all awesomer Expanded Fandomverse, but… we were too exited to wait. We had to release it to the world!

This weeks conversation is with Mr. Craig Chenery. Craig is a man of many talents, but what brought him to our attention is his epic retelling of Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope, in haiku form. We’re not just talking a handful of haikus, he wrote 200 or so stanzas to tell the entire story of the film!

Craig was kind enough to sit down with us to discuss his poem, growing up a Star Wars Fan, about his books, being a 501st member, fatherhood, long form improv, and much much more. After you listen to our conversation, be sure to check out his poem. It’s a great read!

Also, this week Mr. Dan White is back with Chewing the Power Cables. Dan revisits his annoyance with EU fans who wont seem to let things go. And has a few words for Kevin Smith as well!

And this week, we start “Jason’s Jawa Givaway”. (Utinni!) Jason will be giving away the Celebration III exclusive action figure, Darth Vader from Revenge of the Sith. This figure talks! It has lines recorded by James Earl Jones specifically for this figure, and for this figure only! So listen for that in the show, and for all the details about how you can win!

Oh, and one more thing… You’re probably wondering why this episode is numbered Episode 001. “There has already been an Episode 1!” your saying. Well, just like in Star Wars, continuity is fluid. The first 10 episodes I did, which I now call me “beta period”, and no longer part of the Expanded Fandomverse cannon. Yes, they exist, but they now live under the “Legends” banner. What this means is… I’m starting over with the episode numbers. That’s all. No big deal.

PS - From here on out, we will only be doing 1 episode a week.  Really!

The Expanded Fandomverse

WE ARE BACK!!!   Well, kinda…

Jason and I sat down are recorded a “test interview” with our friend, Pax Holley. Pax is a fellow Star Wars fan, but also a blogger and a podcaster. Well, the interview went well enough that we decided to record a complete “test episode”. We are calling this episode, Episode Zero.

Please keep in mind that this episode is a test, so, there are still a lot a kinks to work out. Not all aspects of the show are in place yet, and we get a little long-winded this time around. Also, we were not recording on our normal equipment, so the sound quality is a little off. It’s not bad, it’s just not what you can expect to hear in the future.

So, click on over the The Expanded Fandomverse, have a listen, and tell us what you think!  Thanks!
